#193... Can ya dig it?!

Attention Kittens! Kittens Everywhere!

I am so close to posting my 200th blab of nonsense(read:perfection), you can almost smell the cupcakes of celebration about to burn!! Can't you?! HA just kidding, I would NEVER burn a cupcake. Cruelty upon all levels.

As I was browsing my Google Reader(which was quite dusty) that I haven't been very loyal to, I curious'ed myself into clicking a picture one of my favorite bloggers had posted of a living room with globes as decor... Oh, what's that? You'd like to see?

[Here you go, sweet child]

How FUN, RIGHT? I'll be sad if you hate them.
I'm NOT a huge fan of the couch or pillows(or the rug =/), just the tastefully organized shelves of color-coordinated-delight and the GLORY GLOBES of  all variety...
The wall paint is nice too. Anyway...
My POINT IS as follows: Today I realized something very important.

A few weeks ago, I was in a vintage store and a Bother(name is irrelevant)
questioned my love for globes, in a devaluing-way to my opinion,
and at the moment I didn't have a specific response of WHY.

Well of course, I am not one to change my mind for the
cause of "Peer Pressure" (bah! what a filthy phrase), so I continued to love globes.
Upon seeing this picture, it sparked my memory of this conversation
and I re-visited what I should-have-could-have said.

Happily, in my brainthoughts, I replied:
"It's my home! I like to hold it and look at it
and I LIKE TO KNOW WHERE I AM."

All of a sudden, my brain was giddy and it made perfect sense.
I like to know where I am,
that's why I get discontent when I can sense that I'm not wanted
and unhappy and mentally exhausted when I am not "home" with the situation.
You know that warm, home-feeling, when things are easy and make-sense?
No matter where you are. Even if you're away from your element,
having someone or someTHING that makes sense
on-your-mind is comfort enough for the little-while-that-you're-away.

Globes aren't necessarily "home," in such a deep meaning, but they sure are cute.
I think old ones are neat to decorate with,
plus they're slightly educational and interesting as they've changed over the years,
and come in all sorts of fun colors!
Here's some wins; pass them out, there's enough to go around.

I just embraced a little more of myself today :]
So kiss off, schmucks who question my globe-love!
 *Flexes arms and growl face*
grrr! >:D
(you have to imagine-in the scrunch over my nose!)

Sorry it's been so long, I've been busy managing life,
but I'm not abandoning all my kittenfaces. Miss you!

Please take care :)

xox, Bex.

What I've been up to(aka accidentally ignoring you)

So I'll sum up, cause that's what I do ... First I got some food, with a handsome face, then opened a fortune cookie. I don't believe they're magic or anything, it was just cutesy :P

Then I made some cupcakes- and with the force that is all my own wonderment, I balanced the spoon on the edge of the bowl. *jazz hands*

Nextly, I ate the cupcake. Yeah, those are chocolate chips in the bottom ;)

Sidenote- these pictures may be out of order.. That's what I get for bloggin' in bed with an app.

Then! THENNN...my coworker acquired a beautiful new mouse for me, from a far away land named "Tar-jay," or maybe Target... Something fancy.

And you'll never guess what happened after that... I was GIVEN a delightful raspberry cobbler thing... It was so impeccably mind-altering, that I can't even recall the title.

So you see the water picture somewhere down there? That's where I've been spending 12-13 hours a day on the Seattle scene. Attending school! The school I've always dreamed of :) but the sad part is that now I have less time for you my kitten-faces, my doves. Oh how I miss our witty banter. Our long discussions about shopping & random people that we watch. Don't lie, you people-watch & you know it.

One more picture description! I promise. See me with the name tag? That was an exciting evening. I was riding the bus(gasp! I know!), to the University with my adopted brother. We walked the gorgeous campus that is lined with walkways just BUILT for autumn strolls at 6pm, as the sun is lowering it's beams across the paved paths. And there's lamp posts for squirrels to sit on as you crunch by, not intending on being so noisy, but there IS after all, only ONE fall season per year. And you're wearing fuzzy scarves! Don't forget peacoats & scarves & boots, & oh my! How studly some guys look in scarves!

I won't forget you. Don't forget me! Keep peeking back- cause before you know it... I'll be an esthetician! And I'll have half a day PER DAY to myself again- to write to YOU... my dearest muffinhead.

*waves handkerchief*
We will see each other soon, don't fret!! I've got lots of poems built up for occasions like this!!

Have a great week lovelies!
Xoxo, Bex.

Clever Marketing...

Good day to you :)
Anyone else see what I see in this picture?
Yeah it's grainy and horrible, but you can still see what I see.

 [...Look closer?....]

Why YES. That is a Starbucks Drive-thru built into a bank.

Genius or Heinous?
You already know where I stand :]

Friday: you sweet, sweet melody I sing for all week.

Hallelujah. Literally :)
Friday has come, and Friday will go, but now here you are, so listen up YO!

"Firepits are where the BEST memories are made." -C.

True, yeah? Yup. Glad we agree. Last Sunday my dad mowed the lawn. And the sun was peeking around the corner, so I hauled the troops in for a small-within-city-limits-approved-bonfire. Here's the whole scoop. I can't START a fire, but once it's alive, I totally rock at keeping it burning. Also, Jessica said I could "make it in North Dakota" because I can chop a log into kindling. THAT'S WHATS UP.

Step 1. Jessica(green) gets the fire going.
Then Shelby(pink) gives him a mustache.
Personally, I think it's proportionate to his giant stature.
Step 2. Shelby claims the fire-pit as her own.
Much like how you claim your own food in the work-place refrigerator.

Step 3. Chop more wood to keep the fire burning.
And as I was the 'photog' for the evening, no one got a shot of ME ch-ch-choppin' it up. But here is an excellent action shot of Jessica with a nice swing.

I did however,  gather a rather dashing picture of my sweet pink Keds,
after I tore up a couple logs.
...wait that sounds bad....
I think they deserve a little spotlight.
Then Patrick hit a homerun, with a pinecone. His talent is beyond me.

See his lanyard? It's purple. Kiss that, Justin Beiber!
Oh that reminds me, I heard randomly that little J.B. got beat up by a 'fan'?
Anyone hear anything about this? Yeah me neither.... well..barely.

Back to my story - I'm easily distracted- Shelby had a rough time with her first marshmallow...

What you see here folks, is mellow, marshed all over her hand. I can't even fathom how you get that marshmallow goo all over the TOP of your fingers. The right pic is the marshmallow goo ON HER EYELASH. She had a rough evening, lets just say. At least no one lost an eyeball.

We managed to live thru it all.

Have a safe weekend! Live up those fire-pit moments, and holler
if you need me to chop any wood for ya.
I was killin' it.

<3 much, bex

Attention, Starbucks!

Excuse me, Starbucks.
I don't recall giving you permission to
change your logo.

If this is some sort of rebellion, I'll understand. I mean... there are thousands of  independent java huts around this peninsula, who don't consistently burn our espresso shots.
So I get that.

But I think this is a little overboard. It looks to me, like you're trying to DUMB us down.

I don't know about you, but most coffee-addicts including myself, can READ.
You don't need to remove the WORDING.
I'm almost offended.
No, you know what? I AM offended.

Below, see this logo in the background?
I'm gonna miss it.

RIP Starbucks' Authenticity....
'Cause remember THIS one? It'was my fave.
credit
Is that wrong of me? It's a tad ....
well she's nakie, sure. But she's the original!!

Oh well, as with everything else looking streamlined, I guess they
would have ripped my heart to shreds ONE of these days.
Not that I'm super obsessed with their coffee ANYway, but it might have been nice if they'd asked my opinion, first.
;)

[/rant]
IN OTHER NEWS...
Tomorrow I'll be in the great Emerald City ALL day and you don't even know how excited I am.
SO. EXCITED.

GUYS! Have a fantastic weekend, 'cause you've earned it. This week was a little rough, AMIRITE?!

Talk with you soon chikadee's.

Tuesday + Friday = Thursday. HA!

Oh wow, sorry everyone. APPARENTLY my brain is behind on what day it is. And I totally blanked that Tuesday even happened. But I am not going to let you down(totally). I've got quite a few pictures to share with you. And yes, this will be fun. I'm gonna tell you about my week :) And this doubles as Friday's post too(don't whine- no one likes a whiner) just FYI. NO, that is NOT called cheating. Ok, so maybe it is. Onward! :)

First things first, and that means food.
Last Saturday I made muffins. And I made quite a few. And I made them from a box (no laughing, Hoolia!). I definitely don't find plain muffin mix exciting, so I added my own extras as usual. These WERE destined to be just (blah)Oat Bran muffins. UNTIL I added molasses and cinnamon and chocolate chips.
Oh, yes I did.
NEXT UP!
Basic blueberry(oops, no fun inside extras), with a toasty marshmallow on top.
I kinda folded the fruit in the mixture a little too delicately...so you can't really see the blueberry color....at all. Anywho, they were scrumptious. I'm so sad you missed out ;}

Then hell froze over. And I wore my hair curly. Really, tho. It's not too curly, it's more of a pathetic wave. You know when Napoleon Dynamite waves at his date at the prom, and she ignores him? That's the kind of pity-feeling I give myself, when I try to scrunch my hair with curling mousse, and it just falls like this. Not too terrible, I guess... if you like that whole "rejected" feeling. :P

And lastly...
I drove down to a little inlet area in my community to watch the sunset, because the day was clear and my brain was not. So I wanted to share that moment with my blog-babies. That's you. Sorry, you're probably not a baby. I'm just slightly callous-slash-crabby about the 2 sorta-sunny days we had, now that it's POURING rain again.
*le sigh*
Who's not surprised? [raises hand.]

pee, es: This weekend I'm going out of town and I'm going to have FUN DARNIT! :]
pee, es, es: Speaking of clearing my mind at the waterfront... I have a sweet treat for you next Tuesday!
xoxo, bex
Please use your brains this weekend, kids. No unchaperoned dangerous activities, and if you're gonna get into trouble, don't forget to call me! *holla!*

Tuesday, February 15, 2011

Hey, you! Yeah, you.

Hey all :) I only have a few words for you today.
There's this site. And it makes me happy. And I wanna share.
So check it out :)

love! xox bex.
p.s. here's a few sweet sayings, I plucked off this same site...

"If ever there is tomorrow when we're not together... there is something you must always remember. You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. But the most important thing is, even if we're apart... I'll always be with you."
-A.A. Milne

"It isn't the size of the gift that matters, but the size of the heart that gives it."

This makes me happy.
What is making you happy today?
Pick one thing, even if you're having a dumpy day. :)
Tell me about it...

I heart Seattle. I heart ice cream.

my hair used to look like this...

and now it looks like this...

I've mentioned this a couple times...but now I'm opening the forum. Whaddya think? Which do you like better? I like it, but I want more fake red :] Just to brighten it up a tad, since it has faded a little since the dyeing-date. ha! Dye-ing date.

I will change subjects now! WOOT! Over last weekend I went to a little place called SEATTLE. You may have heard of it? I went to this Ahhh-mazing ice cream place called Molly Moon's(which took forEVer to find, since I'm not familiar with the Capitol Hill area)...

They were "hosting" a breakfast; either A.)waffle & ice cream(BRILLIANT), or B.)oatmeal and ice cream(BRILLIANT) in honor of International Eat Ice Cream For Breakfast Day(BRILLIANT).

I think I pretty much invented this, like.... 6,789,422,734,657 years ago, but HEY if they wanna act like it's their deal, and make me a fantastic waffle so hot it deforms my plastic fork, I'm ok with it.
(*Shirley Temple Smile!*)
So then, a SWARM of joggers comes in right AFTER we have ordered, and are waiting in these floor-height kiddie-chairs, for our food to magically appear. Drinking orange juice out of paper cups- you know, like 3rd grade snack-time. Point being... well, you can imagine.

I won't elaborate. It was all of a sudden sweaty up in there, but when our food arrived we were taken back into the anticipated-bliss-that-one-can-only-dream-of.

Exhibit #1...
End of Exhibit.

Hee hee! Where you toss your tester-spoon when you're done with it.

What are your plans for this weekend?
This is the site where I found out the International EICFB Day. Seattlest!
You should check it out :) If you live around here. Don't be a creeper.
;)
xoxo! the bex.

I only can give you what I love today.

CUTE! Things money cannot buy...
a site to remind us what little things make up the best parts of our day. :]

I think I have most of this list down... hopefully. :P Things everyone should know how to do!! I like it.

Check out this AH-MAZE-ING collection of people's "before & after" projects. The host of this website always has a funny addition to read, and my last sharing-is-caring moment of today....

1,000 Awesome Things. I'm pretty sure I've linked you to this before, but it's always got a freshly-posted-awesome-thing to let you secretly admit that you agree with!! :)

LOVE!

Today, folks.... is Friday. And I have a special friend of mine to share with you.

His name is Nicho(nee-cho) Solano & he recently began blogging about music.
Specifically, The Songs That Saved Your Life. I know no one else who has a larger internal(that being his own brain) database of music. Nicho also has a knack for humorous writing, even though English is his second language; and vast variety of tastes to suit just about everyone who stumbles upon his page. I encourage you all to check it out, he's a very talented individual!! Go! Shoo!! Subscribe!! He's the newest 'thing'!! Have fun :]

And now here's a bit of Friday love, for you to spread around your world.
*sprinkle, sprinkle*

One day you'll be grey & wrinkled
and I'll still see you, my love...

Your smile will be older and
your grip won't be as tight.

One day you might stumble short,
and need to hold my hand.

To go, you'll need a little shove,
but your eyes will be as bright...
and besides you I'll still stand.

You know what I always say to you before the weekend, right?
Be safe, because I love you!
Oh guess what- I french braided my hair today x} *swoon*
And come back Tuesday for a treat :]

BLOG SWAP UPDATE!

(Sorry about the delay for Tuesday's post! It's been one helluva week! Bare with me!!)
Hi Tuesday Kids :)

Yesterday while I was STILL having Jeep issues, my blog-swap package came!
Can you say EXCITEMENT?!
FedEx! Came! To! My! House!
Which means, in a sense, that my new friend Amanda from the Casa Brasi Blog was sending a little piece of
her character to spread around me :}
That she did! Meet Amanda, friends. Walk your finger clicking over to her site ^ and take in the beautiful design work she does! Some of the changes she can make to one single room, blow me away!

Now, this challenged me.
Truly, a secure seal, when pressed firmly.
Who knew?

Inside the soft tissue paper(and ADORABLE striped knit-string)
were goodies I've been needing!!
A perfect-sized picture frame, in a brushed gold that matches
my room decor to-the-perfection ;)

My room consists of light blues, dark blues, dark brown,
white & gold tones as compliments.
This will be perfect on my dresser- which is dark brown.
THEN there are the gloves. Oh. Em. Gee.
The COLORS! The thickness!! Not your average knitted gloves! They are heavy :D
I LOVE.

And THREE pairs of these babies! *swoon*
Thank you Amanda, thank you sooooooooooooo much.
And thank you also to the sponsors & terrific coordinators of this
blogger-connection opportunity:
much love, illy & Sandy a la mode. (<-- check them out!!)
I couldn't have been given a better swap partner!
But wait- there's MORE :} Ohhhhh YEEEAAAHHHH!
This woman knows the secret to my heart!!
Yes, I am talking about coffee.
THAT'S A GIFT CARD PEOPLE!!!!!!! Did she hit the nail on the head, or what?
I'm telling ya, Amanda has either been reading my blog thoroughly... or talking
to someone who knows me personally. Her next delight, came in the form of (gasp!) PAPER.

OKAY who told her that Office Depot is my favorite place to shop?
The high walls of paper just whisper sweet things to me as I walk thru the
automatic doors. The aisle of Sharpies and highlighters and pens put the technicolor
rainbows into my life. And lastly, when I breach the notebook threshold, chorus after
chorus of heavenly voices sing praises to the trees for providing such a beautiful creature!

And of course my Almighty God provided the trees :)
But I don't think Office Depot is aware of that.
STATIONARY (BLANK-INSIDE) GREETING CARDS
WITH MY NAME ON THEM!?!!
gasp.
I'm floored.
Look at the adorable PEN, too. I didn't realize it was a pen until I was
playing with the eraser, about to try it out, and all of a sudden a pen tip popped outta nowhere!!
*HUGE SMILE*

I can't WAIT to use these! Now all I need is a special occasion... hmmm.
So now that I've shared my lovely gifts with you, what's on your list of things to do this week? You should definitely read up on Amanda's Interior Design Ideas and completed works.
She's fantastic. And it's practical as well! I love seeing her newest updates.
Keep looking for Friday, folks! It'll be here in no time :)
Love you, muffins.
